Middle School Programs

Science Track

Our middle school science curriculum focuses on building a strong foundation for the future by enforcing the concepts for each topic, thereby helping students develop a comprehensive understanding of life, earth, physical and chemical sciences.

Middle schools cover all these branches of science through a mix of topics in each grade. Life science will include topics such as cells, cellular processes, body systems, inherited traits and more. Earth Science will cover topics such as layers of earth, landforms change, earth’s geosphere, solar system, etc. Physical/Chemical science will focus on properties and states of matter, atomic model, forms of energy, periodic table and other topics.

Mathematics Track

Our math curriculum focuses on strengthening the concepts to ensure a solid foundation for future years. Students will choose from one of the core areas of math based on their school placement and grade level (Pre Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus). For each area, we focus on every single concept to impart a firm grip on the learning targets.

Current tracks offered are:
Pre-Algebra, AGS1, AGS2, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.

English Writing Workshop

Module 3

Last term we explored writing for different audiences like newspapers, social media, granters, scientific journals, and political campaigns. In this final term you will apply your knowledge to writing a research paper on a topic of debate. Learn MLA format to site sources, expand your vocabulary, and utilize previous knowledge to frame your arguments with persuasive reasoning and writing.

Middle School Module 2: Audience/Purpose/Form

With the basics of essay writing under your belt, we now move on to other forms of writing. How do you tailor your writing for a variety of audiences? Select a topic of interest, research that topic and write about it in several different forms. From research paper to informative newspaper article, letter to the editor, to public service announcement, you will learn how to adapt your vocabulary and writing style fit the purpose and the people reading your work.

Module 1:  Say it Essay Style 

Learn to write beyond a standard five paragraph essay and let your unique personality shine through? Explore narrative, persuasive, and expository writing. Hook your readers with catchy introductions; engage them with humor or compelling imagery. Learn how different sentence lengths can create a rhythm to your paragraphs. With this class, you will acquire techniques to develop voice, render your essays one-of-a-kind and still make the grade. Class includes higher level vocabulary and SAT practice tests and tips for writing research papers.


Careers in Science

Careers in STEM Science is a short 4 week course in a series that will help Grades 5-8 students to set goals while exploring the different career opportunities in specific areas of science. Students will learn about various career fields and look at the education that is necessary to achieve those goals.
